SILENCE IS GOLDEN

Devotion of the Day

(Matthew 26:62a)

And the high priest arose and said to Him, โ€œDo you answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?โ€ But Jesus kept silent.

Jesus Christ is the standard of life for every child of God. When you face tests, trials and temptations before you respond the wrong way, you should first look at Jesus Christ when He was falsely accused. You must always know that whenever our enemies falsely accuse us they actually ignorantly make us known to the world. When Jesus Christ was falsely accused before His crucifixion, He remained silent. Even when people said all sorts of abusive words as He hung at the Cross, Jesus Christ remained silent. 1 Peter 2:21-25 says, “For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: “Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”, who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness by whose stripes you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.” Jesus Christ never said in this world you will find peace, but instead in John 16:33 He says, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” So if you are being falsely accused, there is no need to cry over that, but you must count it all joy. Matthew 5:11-12 says, “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” We are on a journey, heaven bound. So we must follow the example of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ until we get to heaven. Alleluia!

Prayer

Thank You Father for teaching me to be able to receive false accusations and insults just as Your Son Jesus Christ did. May You increase me in grace in order that I may always respond to my adversaries just as Your Son Jesus Christ responded. In Jesus Christโ€™s mighty name I pray. Amen.
