There is one answer to why we do whatever we do while we are in this world. This is to work for our eternal salvation. This is what distinguishes children of God from people of the world. Being employed by a company and earning a very high salary and living in a luxurious house as well as driving the most expensive car is not an end in itself. All the work we do while we are in this world is actually a means to the end and this end is eternal salvation which only comes through Jesus Christ our LORD and Savior. In Luke 12:16-21 Jesus Christ spoke the following parable which teaches us that it is not enough just to be satisfied with material possessions without eternal life: “The ground of a certain man yielded plentifully. And he thought to himself, saying, “What shall I do since I have no room to store my crops? So he said, I will do this; I will pull down my barns and build greater ones, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry. But God said to him, “Fool! This night your soul will be required of you, then whose will those things be which you have provided?” So is he who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.” From this lesson you are being taught to glorify God with the produce of your land and with every labor of your hands. You must remember that you came into this world naked and naked too will you return. However, if you glorify God with the fruit of your labor, your reward will certainly be great both on earth and in heaven. Alleluia!

Prayer

Thank You Heavenly Father for today’s message which has taught me that I should learn to glorify You with the fruit of my labor as we will leave everything behind and enter into Your kingdom. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
