The first disciples of the LORD Jesus Christ had so much passion for the LORD to the point that they gave up what they treasured most for Him. Acts 4:32 says, “Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.” Also Acts 4:36 says, “And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus, having land, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.” If you come to think of it, someone getting to the point of giving away his inheritance for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, this can only mean such a person will have discovered a treasure much more valuable than the piece of land. In Luke 5:1-11, Simon Peter, Andrew, James and John went on to abandon their fishing trade to follow Jesus Christ. The apostles and other disciples of Jesus Christ in the Book of Acts were even prepared to lose their lives for the Gospel. Today many people are now coming to Church in order to receive miracles of financial breakthroughs, healings and deliverances. Once they receive that, they do not at all have anything to do with the LORD Jesus Christ. Many are like the nine lepers of the ten who after they received their healing from the LORD Jesus Christ, never came back to say thank you. Today I am asking you the question: How much passion do you have for Jesus Christ, your Savior, your Deliverer and your Redeemer? Whatever degree of passion you may have for the LORD Jesus Christ, this must be invested in your partnering with Him in supporting His work like what Barnabas and the early Christians did. Alleluia!

Prayer

Thank You LORD Jesus Christ for offering Your life for my salvation. I now pray that You increase in me the passion to partner with You in spreading Your Gospel to the ends of the earth. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray. Amen.
