IT WILL BE WORTH IT ALL EVENTUALLY

Devotion of the Day

Genesis 22:1-2

Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” and he said, “Here I am,” Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”

Additional Verses

When God tested Abraham to go and sacrifice his only son as a burnt offering, Abraham did not at all bargain with God about it. He obeyed and immediately went ahead to offer his only son Isaac to God. Abraham did not ask for a convenient time to obey God, or to tell Sarah his wife, but just trusted God and went to sacrifice his only son whom he so loved. Many people including children of God today would have tried to bargain with God. Some would even go on to ask,’ Is it worth it to give to God what they cherished most?’ If I may ask you a question, Will you not sow the best seed in the ground in order to harvest more of the same crop? Because Abraham sowed his only son Isaac, God honored him to become the father of many nations. When you give to God that which you cherish most, God will honor you and in turn His transforming grace will rest upon your house. We celebrate Christmas today because God gave us His best Seed in order that we might be reconciled to Him as His children. When you come into the presence of the LORD, in order for you to receive from Him in abundant measure, you must be prepared to give to Him the best of your time and the best of your resources. 2 Corinthians 9:6 says, “Remember this, whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly and whoever sows generously, will also reap generously.” When you are giving your resources and your time 100% to the service of God, you are not wasting at all, but you are actually investing wisely. As a child of God you must be a giver just as your Father in Heaven is a Giver. Always follow the pattern of the LORD Jesus Christ who gave Himself 100% for our salvation. When you give to your neighbor who is in need, you will discover that it will be worth it eventually as the LORD will certainly reward you abundantly at His own appointed time just as He did to Abraham and to all the departed saints. Alleluia!

Prayer

Thank You LORD Jesus Christ for teaching me about the importance of giving that which I cherish most. Help me to be not only a giver, but a cheerful giver as that is what You desire of me. Thank You Jesus Christ. Amen.
