DO NOT SUCCUMB TO YOUR FEARS

Devotion of the Day

Matthew 26:69-70

Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came to him saying, “You also were with Jesus of Galilee”. But Peter denied it before them all saying, “I do not know what you are saying.”

Additional Verses
📖 Psalm 23: 1-6; Isaiah 43:1-3; Matthew 26:11-75

Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came to him, saying, "You also were with Jesus of Galilee. But he denied it before them all, saying, I do not know what you are saying." When he was again asked for the second time by another girl, Peter went on to plainly declare that he did not at all know Jesus Christ. Peter went on to deny his Master whom he so loved even for the third time. Deep down in his heart, even though he openly denied any knowledge of Jesus Christ, Peter was so passionate about his Master. It was his love for Jesus Christ in the first place that caused him to follow him even to the high priest's house. His only problem was that he feared for his life. It was the same with the other disciples who fled when Jesus Christ was arrested in the garden. They all succumbed to their fears. Fear is worse than the devil himself. It magnifies the size of your enemy. You can imagine that all those who were accusing Peter did not at all hold any authority in the Sanhedrin. They were merely asking out of interest. Fear actually provides a very wide door for all kinds of satanic afflictions. Acts 1:8 says, “But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” After Simon Peter and all the other Apostles had been filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, they had the bold-ness to declare that salvation could only be attained through Jesus Christ, not only to the common people, but also to the same Sanhedrin Council whom they were once afraid of. Today I am urging you not to succumb to fear as it only opens doors and windows for afflictions to enter into your soul and body. Rather be established in the LORD through His Word and use the Word as the two edged sword against all the strategies of the enemy. Remember Luke 10:19 says, “Behold, I give you the power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Alleluia!

Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, remove from me any form of fear that I may still be having as You have taught me that it is a door for the enemy to enter into my life. Thank You for giving me the authority over all my adversaries. I love and thank You Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
