James 2:14

What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works?

When Jesus Christ was in this world, He lived a life of faith. Faith is obedience to God and this obedience is that you do God’s work. Matthew 4:23 says, “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the Gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.” When He saw the hungry and thirsty, Jesus Christ provided for them bread and drink. When the sick came to Him, He healed them and raised the dead. Those afflicted by demons, Jesus Christ delivered them. If you want to know faith, just study and meditate upon the life of Jesus Christ in the Gospels as well as the life of His Apostles and all the believers in the Book of Acts. Once you believe in Jesus Christ, you must become invaded by His Spirit who will cause you to live a life of faith. Many people today claim that they are believers while their lives are short of the life of Jesus Christ in the Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles. It is actually burdensome to many people who claim to be Christians when they are asked by men and women of God to support the work of God. There is a difference between religion and Christianity. Christianity is all about relationships. Christianity is different from religion in that religion is about membership to a denomination and it’s all about talk of having faith while there are no works. James had problems with religious people who claimed that they had faith and yet their lives were short of the works of God. This is why He said, “If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”(James 2:15- 17). Faith without works is therefore dead in the sight of God. Once you become born again, you must immediately become obedient to the Holy Spirit who will immediately drive you to desire to do whatever God asks you to do in His Church and among His people in this world. Prayer

Dear Father in Heaven, fill me with Your kind of faith so that I may be excited to do Your works among Your people who are in need. Give me a watchful mind in order that I may be able to discover wherever there is a need. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray. Amen.
