The five foolish virgins while they have been with the other five wise virgins, lacked that special virtue which the wise virgins had. This is the virtue of being alert always. The five wise virgins, other than the oil in their lamps, they ensured that they had enough reserves in the event that the groom was going to be delayed. Many Christians are like the five foolish virgins because they only get excited the first time they receive anointing. However they are unable to maintain the level of anointing through yielding themselves to the Word of God which is the source of the anointing. Proverbs 4:20-22 says, “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.” This is a challenge to every child of God to take in more of God’s Word into the heart as the Word taken in is also able to give life to the believer. It is also able to provide medicine to the flesh. This is the reason why many children of God when they are afflicted by sicknesses, they cannot receive healing even when they pray so hard or are prayed for by their man of God. It is because they lack adequate reserves of oil just like the five foolish virgins. Did you know that healing or blessing only come to you as a result of the Word of God in you! Of course there are certain instances when unbelievers also receive healing from God, but there are rare cases. When it comes to moving mountains as Mark 11:22-23 says, it requires someone who is always alert of what the Word of God says about his or her situation. Blind Bartemaeus and the woman healed of the continuous flow of blood were very alert and had the desire to be healed. This is the reason why they were able to seize their opportunities when Jesus Christ passed their ways. According to Matthew Chapter 24 and Chapter 25, the LORD Jesus Christ is going to come to gather His elect at an hour that is not known to anyone at all, not even the Angels or the Son knows the day or hour but only the Father. It is only those who are giving a good measure of their time, body, soul and spirit to the Word of God who will be able to meet the LORD Jesus Christ at His second coming. Be wise and be always alert therefore and live by the Word of God always so that you will not miss the hour of your visitation when Jesus Christ comes to collect His own. Alleluia!

Prayer

Thank You Father for reminding me that it is not possible to please You without faith. May You therefore grant me the faith to receive whenever I come to You in prayer. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
